Propecia Uses:
Propecia is the first and only FDA-approved pill proven to treat male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area in men.
Propecia Directions:
Propecia is intended for one dose each day, and can be taken with or without food.
Propecia Side Effects:
There are few side effects connected with Propecia, and they occur in less than 2% of men who use the medication. These side effects are a decreased interest in sex, difficult achieving or maintaining an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen. All of these side effects went away when Propecia was no longer being used.
Propecia Warnings:
Propecia should be used exclusively by men. Pregnant women who are carrying a male child may deliver a boy with birth defects after coming in contact with and absorbing the active ingredient in Propecia. The tablets are coated to prevent accidental exposure, but women should never handle Propecia tablets that are crushed or broken. Any accidental contact by a pregnant woman should be reported to the doctor immediately.
Propecia Drug Interactions:
If you are using Propecia, you may notice a change in sexual function. Sexual side effects are generally temporary, but if they continue, see your doctor about them, as well as any other symptoms that you experience. Swollen lips and skin rashes or hives are symptoms of toxicity and must be reported as soon as possible.
Propecia Missed Dose:
Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Propecia Storage:
Propecia should be stored at room temperature and out of sunlight and moisture. All medications should be stored in their original container.
Anything Else I Should Know About Propecia:
You can expect to see new hair growth within a year of using Propecia. The medication helps new hair grow in regions of the scalp that are balding or thinning. Some studies also show that Propecia can be effective in slowing the rate of hair loss. It has not been proven to help with hair loss around the hairline or on the sides of the head. It?s unlikely that you will grow back all the hair that you have lost. You must be patient when waiting to see results. Baldness occurs gradually and new hair grows an average of a half-inch per month. You will generally need to take Propecia for at least three months before you can see any measurable improvements. In order for you to continue to grow new hair, you must continue to use Propecia. Propecia may not be effective for you if you have not seen any changes after twelve months of use. Propecia will not treat thinning hair caused by androgenetic alopecia in postmenopausal women. Women should never use Propecia. Do not give your medication to anyone else, or store it where children can reach it.
