Lexapro Uses:
Lexapro falls into the category of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). They work by keeping brain chemicals in balance and preventing depression. It increases seratonin levels. This medication is usually used to treat depression.

Lexapro Directions:
Most people begin using Lexapro by taking 10 mg per day. It is taken once a day, either with or without food, and in the morning or evening. Keep your prescriptions filled ahead of time so you do not miss a dose. For best results, make sure to follow all of your doctor?s instructions.

Lexapro Side Effects:
Most people experience few side effects when using Lexapro. The most common side effects are nausea, insomnia, and problems with ejaculation, drowsiness, increased sweating, and fatigue. These side effects are usually mild and go away after using Lexapro for a while. Most patients do not choose to stop taking Lexapro because of these side effects.

Lexapro Warnings:
Lexapro can be safely used in combination with most other drugs, but not with antidepressants in the category monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). You should never take MAOIs at the same time as Lexapro, or within two weeks of each other.
