Flonase Uses:
The prescription Flonase is a nasal corticosteroid. It reduces the inflammation and swelling in nasal tissues, which in turn reduces the occurrence of itching, runny nose, nasal congestion, postnasal drip, and sneezing in people with a history of rhinitis.

Flonase Directions:
In order for Flonase to help you the most, you need to make sure you are using the nasal spray correctly. Get an explanation of how to use the spray and nasal adapter if you have any questions. You may need to prime the spray pump a few times before the first use, and should shake it before each dose. The maximum dose is two sprays in each nostril per day. It?s common for Flonase to take a few days to make a noticeable difference. Speak to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve in a few days.

Flonase Side Effects:
Those using Flonase report side effects such as blood in nasal mucus, nose bleeding, or nasal burning or irritation. Other side effects are less common but can include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, headache, nasal dryness, or stomach upset. Notify your doctor if these persist. Continued use of nasal steroids such as Flonase may result in fungal infections of the throat or nose. If you have an infection, tell your doctor, who may recommend that you stop using Flonase until the infection has cleared. Rare side effects that require immediate attention include headache, vision problems, unusual weakness, increased thirst or urination, weight loss, nausea, dizziness. Some people have allergic reactions with symptoms such as rash, trouble breathing, itching, dizziness, or swelling, and should be treated immediately. Tell your doctor about any side effects you experience that are not listed here.

Flonase Warnings:
Tell your doctor of all other prescription or nonprescription medicines you use, especially of: other nasal products (such as cold products), other corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), antibiotics. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Flonase Drug Interaction:
Before taking Flonase, tell your primary care physician about any other drugs you use. You should know that using Flonase at the same time as any other product containing oral or inhaled steroids raises your chance of negative side effects or even overdose.

Flonase Missed Dose:
Do not take Flonase more often than recommended. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but return to your regular dosing routine after that. Never double dose.

Flonase Storage:
Flonase should be stored out of the reach of children. It should be kept in a place free of moisture and sunlight, and at room temperature.
